The Virginia Beach City Attorney's Office provides effective and efficient legal services, promotes accountability, trust and openness in government and focuses on outcomes that are fair, equitable and balanced while protecting the best interests of the City.
We are seeking an individual with an interest in, and knowledge of, Land Use, Zoning and Environmental Law.
This position requires solid problem-solving and communication skills. The primary functions of the position include: acting as general counsel to boards and commissions, preparing written opinions based on legal research, representing the City in court on civil and criminal enforcement actions and administrative proceedings, reviewing contracts and storm water agreements, and drafting ordinances and resolutions. Excellent writing ability, sharp analytical skills, and strong research abilities are essential in this fast-paced office. Experience in environmental regulatory compliance, enforcement and transactional matters are preferred.
Residency in the City of Virginia Beach is not required.
